I thought I’d mention this while I have it in mind — recently, I was meeting with Jeff Miner, Assistant VP for Information Services, regarding Concerto. He mentioned a meeting he had with a colleague a couple months back in which they discussed the ideology behind the digital signage network. He really wanted to point that other person to the “Concerto Manifesto” that Marc and I paired with the screens in both the CII lobby and Union lobby, but he couldn’t find it anywhere online. Whoops. Anyway, Jeff, this one goes out to you. Within the past day, with Reunion Week upon us, we submitted a new piece of content to Concerto with the manifesto points summed up nicely. Here it is:
This will be rotating across our screens in the Student Union feed, so check it out if you’re still on campus like us losers.
FYI: Here’s the full thing:
Campus-wide communication is everyone’s business. Knitting together content from all campus organizations enhances the value of everything shown on any particular Concerto screen.
Paper signs have cluttered campus for too long. A modern, striking alternative is needed for getting the word out.
Flexibility is key. Informative content should not only be communicated via flat panel displays like the one above, but also through web sites like myRPI.org and in other places where people find it useful.
